This site is intended for professional use; it is NOT for use by members of the public. It is not replacement for advice from your usual healthcare professional. If you have any comments, thoughts or feedback please contact us at: dg.refhelp@nhs.scot.

Please note:

  • The Psychology department is unable to review referrals on an urgent basis. If the referral requires an urgent/immediate response please refer directly to the local CMHT or Crisis team depending on the level of urgency.
  • If there is an update in relation to an existing referral please use the Advice Request option.
  • All referrals are accepted via Sci-Gateway
  • Some services also accept direct email referrals
  • If on review, the needs of the individual are better met by another service within the Psychology department or the wider Mental Health Directorate this will be discussed and agreed with the alternate service. If transfer is agreed, the referrer and patient will be updated – no further action will be required by the referrer
  • Most services are currently operating a Digital First approach to appointments using the NHS Near Me platform unless otherwise stated

Should any referrer wish to speak to a member of staff in relation to a referral please contact 01387 244495 or email dg.psychology.general@nhs.scot
